Kathy Lorenz

Kathy Lorenz, Pantry Director and liaison for the Assumption Conference and Alison Zlatic, Cincinnati District Council President

The Top Hat Award is given to a Vincentian who exemplifies the spirit of our principal founder, Frederic Ozanam. Kathy Lorenz wears many hats at her Church of the Assumption Conference, serving as Pantry Director while going above and beyond for her neighbors. Her compassion and commitment to serving neighbors is felt in many capacities – whether she is managing financial-need requests or loading a SVDP truck with donations. Anne Hattersley, an Assumption Vincentian, describes Kathy’s love for helping others, “Kathy visibly yet quietly demonstrates being the hands and feet of God.”

Neighbors in the 45231-zip code know Kathy by name. She dedicates many hours collaborating with landlords and utility companies to ensure housing stability. Kathy is committed to providing basic needs to hundreds of families – using her baking skills to create desserts or coordinating the pantry to make sure hundreds of families have food on the table. She is involved with the Santa Angel project, an initiative to provide Christmas gifts to neighbors, often taking names from neighbors visiting the pantry along with distribution of over 300 gifts.

As Pantry Director of the Mount Healthy Alliance Food Pantry, Kathy works very hard to prepare the pantry for her neighbors – overseeing administrative and logistical. She has her hand in all things pantry, whether it is taking food inventory, coordinating food donations, or shopping with neighbors, Kathy does it all with the love of Christ.

Kathy’s strong Catholic faith and heart of gold inspires other to action, including her own grandchildren. Her love has left a beautiful impact on many neighbors, and she has her hand in everything. She truly wears many hats for our organization, and leaves all she meets with love and compassion.
