Day to Dream

This August, 50 children will receive a new bed of their own, thanks to Morris Home Furniture, St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati, and WCPO Channel 9. Join us as we raise funding to provide even more beds to our neighbors in need in Greater Cincinnati!

$150 provides a bed to a neighbor in need

Day to Dream 2021

St. Vincent de Paul receives many requests for help from parents who cannot afford beds for their children; their kids may be sleeping on an air mattress, a couch or even on the floor. So far this year, SVDP has provided beds to 299 children.

For four years, Morris Furniture, St. Vincent de Paul and WCPO Channel 9 have partnered to help address the need for beds in Greater Cincinnati and ensure local children have a safe, comfortable place to sleep each night.

Day to Dream surprises 50 local children with a bed of their own. In addition to the twin bed set, children also receive other items like stuffed animals, gift cards, back to school supplies and personal care items donated from event partners.  Typically the event takes place at the Reds Urban Youth Academy, with fun and games for the kids, as well as a big reveal of the beds. Volunteers then would follow families home to deliver the beds.  Due to the pandemic, we will be delivering beds directly to the homes of the recipients this year.   We look forward to getting back to the traditional model for the event next year!

How You Can Help

On August 31, 2021 WCPO will host a phone-a-thon to help increase awareness and raise the funds needed to provide more beds for neighbors in need.  A donation of just $150 can provide a bed, complete with box springs, frame and mattress.  Viewers can call 513-421-HOPE between the hours of 4pm – 7:30pm to make donations of any size.
