Tackle Hunger Food Drive Kicks Off Saturday
St. Vincent de Paul, the Greater Catholic League (GCL) South Division and Skyline Chili are teaming up to help tackle hunger in Greater Cincinnati through two food drives, happening at rivalry football games over the next two weekends.
Non-perishable food items will be collected during the Moeller vs. Elder matchup at The Pit on Elder’s campus (4pm on Saturday, Oct. 2), and during the LaSalle vs. St. Xavier game at St. Xavier’s RDI Stadium (7pm on Friday, Oct. 8). Each person who brings food items to donate will receive a coupon good for one free cheese coney at participating Skyline Chili restaurants.
Food collected at these football games will help provide meals to neighbors who turn to St. Vincent de Paul for assistance. Last year, over 39,000 neighbors relied on St. Vincent de Paul’s Becky & Ted Catino Choice Food Pantry (located within the Neyer Outreach Center) for help putting food on the table. Additionally, 7,800 people turned to a smaller pantry in St. Vincent de Paul’s network of 11 neighborhood food pantries for assistance.
This is the first year that St. Vincent de Paul, the GCL South and Skyline Chili have partnered to tackle hunger.
