Dear
Friend,
Welcome to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's website. I invite
you to browse through our site to gain a deeper understanding and
appreciation of what St. Vincent de Paul does in our community --
who we are and what
we do.
For more than 135 years, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has
quietly cared for those in need throughout Greater Cincinnati. And
while some people say there are no longer miracles in the world,
the volunteers and staff of St. Vincent de Paul would disagree.
Miracles happen every day - in the happiness shared by a mother
and her children on Christmas morning, or the hug of gratitude offered
by someone who has nothing else to give.
To be
good stewards of the gifts so kindly entrusted to the Society of
St. Vincent de Paul, it is essential to run a tight financial ship.
To be good social service providers, we must understand the broad
issues facing people in our community-their pressing needs, the
systemic causes of poverty, and changes in demographics. But to
be kind and loving caretakers to people in need, it takes a compassionate
heart.
Our base of more than 700 volunteers is the foundation of our organization.
These members work in more than 60 small groups or conferences,
generally associated with parishes, to care for people in their
own neighborhoods. In addition, our members support and operate
six thrift
stores, the Operation
Bootstrap job readiness program, the St. Vincent de Paul Crisis
Services, Drives
and the Edyth & Carl Lindner Choice Food Pantry in the West End..
I invite you to visit our How
To Help page to learn more about how you can share your gifts
and resources - how you can take part in making these miracles possible.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our site and learn more about
St Vincent de Paul. Together, we can make a difference in the lives
of our neighbors.
