As a senior citizen, Susan had a comfortable life. Then one night police officers knocked on her door with 4 half-clothed and malnourished children. The police found the girls naked with no food or water when arresting Susan’s estranged daughter, a drug addict.
Susan took the girls into her home. Not knowing how she was going to provide for them, she turned to the St. Vincent de Paul Conference at St. Peter & Paul Church. Susan received food for the holidays and Christmas presents making their first Christmas together a memorable one.
Now the two oldest girls are in school, the toddler is to undergo a bladder operation and the baby is recovering from the effects of drugs. There will continue to be struggles, but now the girls have their loving grandmother, and Susan has friends at St. Vincent de Paul to give her a helping hand.
