Coretta's Story

Coretta always supported herself and her two daughters. She didn’t mind hard work and loved her job caring for patients in a group home. Unexpectedly, Coretta received devastating news from her doctor. Her right leg needed to be amputated due to rheumatic disease.

After almost a year in the hospital, Coretta fell into a deep depression. Adjusting to life in a wheelchair, searching for a job and finding new ways to connect with her young, active grandchildren was not easy.

Coretta had her family’s love and encouragement, but they did not have the means to help with even the simplest necessities, like decent clothing or toiletries. At our new Winton Hills location, she found someone to listen and received help with essentials for daily life. Coretta is still on the road to recovery, but now can focus on the important aspects of regaining her life.
