| A
job readiness program, Operation Bootstrap helps the chronically unemployed,
including recent graduates of chemical abuse programs, to re-enter
the job market. Intensive and holistic in approach, Bootstrap focuses
on the whole person by providing physical education, nutrition classes
and in-depth career counseling. Volunteers from Xavier University
faculty, Christ Hospital, The Council on Nutrition and many others
supplement our own staff. Following graduation, social workers help
place candidates in full-time jobs. To reach Operation Bootstrap,

Some people struggle with the question, What does God want me to do with my life?
But not Greg Morgan.
Convicted felon, former homeless person, recovering substance abuser
Greg Morgan knows the answer. After years of fear, failure and unproductive
living, Greg says he is now standing with the hope he
received through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's Operation
Bootstrap job readiness program. For the first time in years, Greg
has a job, a home, and hope for the future. And from the source
of his renewed hope, he offers a hand of help to those who are standing
where he once stood.
Hes found the answer.
Im doing what God wants me to do, he says of his weekly volunteer work with men who live on the streets, in shelters and alleyways. I dont forget where I came from. I go back... to help others, he says.
- Greg Morgan, Operation Bootstrap Graduate
