The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, in partnership with the University of
Cincinnati Fashion Program in the College of Design, Architecture, Art &
Planning (DAAP), and 20th Century Theatre, held its 6th annual RetroFittings on
October 9, 2008, with a record setting attendance of nearly 500. As the
organization's signature fundraiser, RetroFittings features fashions created by
UC Fashion Program School of Design students from St. Vincent de Paul Thrift
Store finds. The event is sponsored by Recycling Group Ltd., Macys, Huntington
Bank, Krombholz Jewelers, Cristofoli-Keeling, Inc, Integra, Bang-Zoom Design,
Ltd. Frontgate, Dr. & Mrs. Frederick Steinbeck and Rinehart, Staadeker, Sussli

Known as one of the top fashion design schools in the country, UC Fashion
Program School of Design students, armed with only a $10 budget, have created
new fashions by disassembling a variety of items found at St. Vincent de Paul
thrift stores, including clothes, curtains, bed sheets and table cloths. The
students cutting-edge fashions will be modeled in a professional-style runway
show during the event.
