Seasonal and One-Time Opportunities
5 Cares Coat Drive: November 1 – December 18
Keep a family warm this winter by donating gently-used coats from October 18 through December 6 at local fire departments and Gold Star Chili locations. Volunteers are also needed to hang, sort, and distribute coats.
Thanksgiving Food Drive and Distribution: November 15-19, 22, 23
Help ensure that our Pantry guests have the means to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for their family and friends. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the Bank Street Food Pantry to receive and sort donations; prepare food boxes; work at registration tables; and help coordinate the distribution process.
Christmas Angels Toy Program: December 10 & 11
Help us provide Christmas gifts and activities for families in need. The Christmas Angels Toy Program is a one-day event in which parents are able to ‘shop’ for gifts for their family at St. Vincent de Paul while their children are engaged in creative and fun crafts and activities. Volunteers are needed to help with preparation for the Program and to help make this day possible, running craft activities, reading with children, serving as shopping assistants, wrapping gifts, working at the check-in desk, or serving as hospitality for the families who participate in the program.
Adopt-A-Family: December 13-24
Adopt-a-Family is St. Vincent de Paul’s largest Christmas program, providing food and gifts for Christmas for 200 of the families who use our services. Volunteers are needed to help receive, sort, and distribute donations. We anticipate much activity on Saturday, December 18, so we will need additional volunteers on that day.
Sacred Heart Giving Tree: mid-December TBD
Sacred Heart Parish helps us provide families in the Winton Terrace area with gifts for Christmas. Volunteers are needed to help load, unload, sort, and distribute gifts and donations both at Sacred Heart church and at our Winton Terrace office.
Christmas Food Distribution: December 13-17, 20, 21
Help ensure that our Pantry guests have the means to provide a full Christmas meal for their family and friends. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the Bank Street Food Pantry to receive and sort donations; prepare food boxes; work at registration tables; and help coordinate the distribution process.
Holiday Hearts Luncheon: December 21
The Holiday Hearts Luncheon is a special program for single people who do not have family and friends with whom to share a Christmas meal. Volunteers are needed at Bank Street to set up and decorate for this luncheon event, which will be held on December 23.
Organize a drive:
We can only give what we have. Organize a drive or event at your school, office or church. Our office can help! We often need volunteers to help staff our Reds Drive in the summer and our Macy’s Mattress Drives twice annually.
Clean out and donate:
Many families cannot afford basic necessities, so clean out your closet, garage and basement and donate your gently-used clothing, furniture and household items. Drop off items at any of our locations or schedule a free pick up by calling 513-421-CARE (2273).
