ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OFFERS HEART-HEALTHY COOKING DEMONSTRATION

Saturday Visitors to Bank St. Outreach Center Will Receive Recipe and Ingredients in Honor of Heart Month and Valentine’s Day

CINCINNATI, OH – February 8, 2012 – In honor of St. Valentine’s Day and of February being Heart Month, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is offering visitors to its West End Outreach Center at 1125 Bank St. a heart-healthy cooking demonstration this Saturday, February 11. Attendees will learn how to make a special Veggie Valentine Soup. In addition to the recipe, they will receive a bag with all the ingredients, free storage containers and fun prizes just for showing up. The demonstrations will occur at 8:45 am, 9:30 am, 10:15 am and 11:45 am.

"We are happy for an opportunity to give something a little bit more to visitors to our outreach center,” said Liz Carter, executive director, St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati. “Saturday is a regular operating day for our Choice Food Pantry and our Charitable Pharmacy. This week in addition to basic groceries or prescription medications, our guests will receive something special and learn some cooking tips to keep their families healthy and happy. We are grateful to the volunteers who are making it happen.”

The cooking demonstration is a service of some of the many volunteers who lend a hand to help St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati serve our neighbors in need. St. Vincent de Paul offers a variety of volunteer opportunities ranging from organizing drives and events to providing hospitality to clients who visit our outreach centers.
