'Food From The Heart'

2010 is the 20th Anniversary of 'Food From the Heart' a partnership between Kroger, FOX19 and St. Vincent de Paul that has collected over 1,000,o00 pounds of food to help feed our neighbors in need across Cincinnati during the holidays. This year, the need is even greater than before.

Shop With a Bengal

Bengals players helped share the spirit of Christmas with local children.

Looking for a way to feel the spirit of Christmas?

Last year, 6,117 families across Cincinnati received holiday food or gifts as a result of St. Vincent de Paul holiday programs at our Outreach Centers and our 56 parish-based volunteer groups. Here are two great ways you can help a forgotten child or family.

Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program

Each year, people from across Cincinnati join with St. Vincent de Paul to provide gifts for local families in need. What began as a small effort has grown into a tradition of giving, with our efforts enhanced by the special support of the Cincinnati Bengals, individual families, school and community groups and local businesses.

All year, our volunteers and staff serve people who can barely afford the basic necessities. For these families, providing holiday gifts and a celebratory meal is simply impossible. All of the families on our list, have be served by St. Vincent de Paul  at some point during the year. As a result, we have screened each family, which allows you to know that your presents are being provided to local
families in tremendous need this holiday season.

The Christmas Angels Program

Angels are the guardians of hope and wonder, and keepers of magic and dreams.

Purpose:  “Christmas Angels” supplements the Adopt-A-Family program and is designed to give less fortunate parents an opportunity to select two new Christmas gifts for each of their children. This program is especially designed to give parents a sense of dignity and pride in making the Christmas season more joyous and fulfilling for their family.

Background: Families are invited to our Outreach Center in the West End on a Saturday in December. While the parents select two gifts for their children, volunteers help the children make an arts  and crafts gift for their parents and receive a bag of candy from Santa. Parents take the gifts home to give to their children on Christmas morning.

You can become a Christmas Angel by donating new toys or a monetary gift to purchase toys for children who would otherwise be forgotten during the holidays. For more information, please contact Maura Carpinello at (513) 562-8841 x 211.
