Shellie's Story

Shellie was working as many hours as she could in a packaging factory. A single mother, she lived paycheck to paycheck but always found a way to provide for her four children. Then during the birth of her youngest son, complications resulted in minimal use of her legs and partial loss of her eyesight.

Unable to work, Shellie struggled to make ends meet. Food dollars were tight, especially during the summer and holiday breaks when she couldn’t depend on school lunches for her children. “It was just rough,” said Shellie. Then she heard about the St. Vincent de Paul Choice Food Pantry.

“It really helps a lot until I can get back to working,” said Shellie. She looks forward to a complete recovery and returning to work. “Thank you for helping me feed my children.”
